Positions: Junior Research Fellows

The present project is a partnership project between  industry and academic organisations. The candidates should have familiarised themselves with the  information on activities of CACR, SRMIST, besides the some scientific and technical basics in the fields of concrete technology, building materials, concrete chemicals, general test methods, analytical instruments,  geopolymers (inorganic, alumino-silicate polymers), BIS and other national Codes on these materials and their applications.

The candidates are expected to have good writing skills in order to prepare independently the technical/scientific reports based on the works being carried out in the project from time to time.

The works would involve travelling and field coordination activities  under the guidance of PI/Co-PI for the purpose of successful field demonstration of geopolymer technology with various products being manufactured in geopolymers using fly ash and blast furnace slag powder (known in IS:456-200 as GGBS).

The present project is a partnership project between industry and academic organisations. The candidates should have familiarised themselves with the information on activities of CACR, SRMIST, besides the some scientific and technical basics in the fields of concrete technology, building materials, concrete chemicals, general test methods, analytical instruments, geopolymers (inorganic, alumino-silicate polymers), BIS and other national Codes on these materials and their applications.

The candidates are expected to have good writing skills in order to prepare independently the technical/scientific reports based on the works being carried out in the project from time to time.

The works would involve travelling and field coordination activities under the guidance of PI/Co-PI for the purpose of successful field demonstration of geopolymer technology with various products being manufactured in geopolymers using fly ash and blast furnace slag powder (known in IS:456-200 as GGBS).

Note: The selected candidate will have the option to register for regular PhD program in SRM Institute of Science and Technology (formerly known as SRM University)

Essential Qualifications: M.Sc. in Chemistry/Materials Chemistry/M.Tech. in Chemical engineering securing minimum first class marks or equivalent CGPA. CSIR UGC NET/GATE qualified candidates will be given preference. Relevant research experience would also be preferred.

Number of Positions: One.  Duration of the project: Three years 

Amount of fellowship: CSIR UGC NET/GATE qualified candidate: 25,000 INR (p.m. consolidated) for initial two years. Based on the performance the JRF shall be promoted as SRF in the 3rd  year and 28,000 INR p.m. will be paid. Non-CSIR UGC NET/GATE candidate: 16,000 INR p.m. for initial two years. Based on the performance the JRF shall be promoted as SRF in the 3rd  year and 18,000 INR p.m. will be paid. The JRF will also be entitled for getting 20% HRA (HRA admissible if the stay is outside the campus).

Registration for Ph.D.: Selected candidate can be registered for the full time Ph.D. programme at SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Kattankulathur, Chennai after fulfilling minimum qualifications prescribed by the University.

Age limit: Candidate should not be more than 28 years as on the last date of application. However upper age limit may be relaxed as per the existing rules.
